ISO certification

ISO certification involves review and scrutiny in order to verify that:

The management system is rooted in top management and is part of corporate governance, that roles, responsibilities and authorities are established, that routines for monitoring, measurement, analysis, evaluation, improvements, etc. are established (including internal audits and management review) and that the management system meets all the requirements for documented information as required by the relevant standard (s). This is called by Intertek a "Step 1 revision" (= system audit) .

The management system is implemented, ie the company's processes and activities are planned, implemented, monitored, improved and ensure intended results in a management perspective. "Implemented" also means that the organization has sufficient knowledge of the established management system and is involved in both the improvement work and that sufficient resources have been set aside to keep the system up to date and that there is sufficient evidence (documentation) that processes work as planned. This is called "Step 2 revision (= certification revision).

In any case, a good piece of advice is to familiarize yourself with the relevant standard (s) in advance and preferably have established a management system that is in accordance with the chosen standard (s) - if the company eventually aims to be certified ! At the same time, a Gap analysis will in any case be performed as a prelude to a possible certification project.
